Consultation

Consultations:

 Relationships:

When only one party in the relationship feels the stress and she/he need to change the relationship while the other party does not the stress and consequently do not feel the need to change the relationship. Then consultation rather than therapy is the good choice for dealing with stress and relationship issues. The relationships could be marital, coupling, co-habitation, dating, parent and adult children, family members and family member, or family member and extended family members, relationships with step siblings, half siblings, or stepparent, or adapted parents or adult adapted child, and relationships in a high conflict divorced family.

Parenting issues:

Many parents have conflict around parenting issues. Husband and wife are raised by their respective families. They unconsciously bring in their parents’ parenting practice into their own family. That would cause conflicts. Besides, there are many other factors, most of them are unconscious to the parents themselves. These factors cause them stubbornly to insist their ways of parenting is the only way or the right ways. In those cases, a parenting consultation could help the parents reduce their conflicts and provide consistent parenting principles and implementation methods.

Parenting after contentious divorce: consultation with one or both parents would reduce the stress that their children suffer after the parents’ divorce.

The family who has a mentally ill member.

Especially when that mentally member refuses to engage in psychiatric care or other forms of mental health services. It is a known fact that psychotropic medication is effective in managing psychotic symptoms. It sounds very simple. But the most difficult part is to get the severely mentally ill family member to take psychotropic medication. Family consultation could help the healthy members to reduce the stress of caring for a stubborn mentally ill family member. The caring for a mentally ill family member often create conflicts within the healthy family members. An expert’s guidance to the healthy family members could reduce the friction among the healthy family members. In doing so, the mentally ill member could experience the harmony in human relationship. This harmony in the family is itself psychological medicine for psychotic family member.
